Hello all-
To help our members interact a little more efficiently and (hopefully) effectively, the NSCTA has added a forum area for its membership.

For the initial opening of the website, viewing, posting, and commenting will be limited to NSCTA members.  If you are an NSCTA member and would like to sign up for an account for the forum, please head over to the new section:

NSCTA Info Membership Update

Jeffrey Horner writes:

Hello All!

As you are winding down your school year, please mark your calendars and plan to attend the Nebraska Speech  Communication and Theater Association Convention 2010! The theme for the convention will be From Pen to Paper to Performance. Writing will be a major part of the focus for convention! It should be a fantastic event!

The convention will take place in North Platte at the Sandhills Convention Center at the Quality Inn and Suites. The convention will take place October 1 & 2. We are currently attempting to have an NSAA Rules Meeting for speech and play production to take place on the evening of September 30.

Reservations are being accepted for attendees at the Quality Inn and Suites.  The phone number is (308) 532-9090 or 1-800-760-3333. Room block will be held until September 9 and must specify "Nebraska Speech Communication & Theatre Association" for the block rooms -- $72 for "deluxe sleeping room accommodations in the main and north buildings" or $129 for "2-room suites with inside entrances."  Both room options include a full hot breakfast buffet and are flat rates for 1-4 persons per room.

Please take a moment to visit the NSCTA website at http://www.nscta.info/.  Convention details will appear here as they become available. In addition, the website lists the various awards that NSCTA will present at convention. Would you take a moment to look over those awards and determine if you know
someone deserving? If so, please take the time to NOMINATE this person for the award. Nominations are due by July 15.

Thank you for being a part of the NSCTA! We look forward to seeing you at the 2010 convention in North Platte!

Make plans now to be in Kearney the first weekend in October 2009. Next year's convention is tentatively scheduled. While the schedule is yet to be completely finalized, there are some highlights we think everyone will enjoy.

One highlight will be Nebraska author Don Welch. He will be featured as a late morning keynote speaker on Friday. We'll follow his presentation with Poetry Out Loud during the awards banquet. Friday will conclude with the President's Reception after an evening meal and entertainment.

Saturday's schedule kicks of with posterboard presentations covering all of the NSAA speech events, all of the debate events in Nebraska, and theatre presentations covering a range of topics.

A block of rooms have been reserved at the Ramada Inn. The rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the $75 group rate. For a peek at the tentative schedule, click on Read More below.

NSCTA Info What's in a District?
Posted by nscta_site_admin on Saturday, September 27 @ 21:27:24 EDT (398 reads)

If you are unsure who your NSCTA representative is--or what district your school belongs to--we use the same geographical breakdown that the Nebraska School Activities Association uses.

The link with a list of schools organized by district is:
http://nsaahome.org/textfile/about/count.htm.

Once you've determined your district, click on the NSCTA Officers link on the left to find out who your district representative is. District representatives can help you out with just about any questions you may have regarding speech, theatre, debate or--if necessary--life in general.
