Nebraska Debate Institute

held at Lincoln Southwest High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, July 22-July 30, 2011

About the StaffCow 1

***Public Forum instruction will be led by Millard West assistant coach Aarron Schurevich and Lincoln Southeast head coach Steve Foral, with more staff announced soon.

Former Millard South coach Scott Wike and current coach Dana Christensen will lead the policy debate staff.

Our LD staff will be led by former Nebraska state champion and current current St. Louis Park, Minnesota head coach Charles McClung.

Toni Heimes will be in charge of hosting in one of the nicest facilities in the state, and just ask former NDI staff and students about the food at this camp.

***We have always hired plenty of staff for all debate events and keep the overall student/staff ratio at under 4/1.  Students get individualized instruction at NDI.

  • Also staff confirmed for policy debate include University of Texas-San Antonio assistant coach, Jeff Roberts; Millard South assistant coach, Dylan Sutton;  Millard West assistant coach, Tim Royers; Halli Tripe, former NDT debater at Baylor University; Matt Kenyon, assistant debate coach at Sioux Falls Lincoln High School; and Carly Persell, assistant debate coach at Lincoln Southeast High School.
  • Returning LD staff includes former Des Moines Valley LD debater and current University of Texas, San Antonio NDT debater Scott Koslow; Priya Sirohi, former national qualifying Nebraska Lincoln-Douglas debater; and Michael Prideaux, a top LD debater at St. Louis Park the past 3 years
  • Public Forum instruction will be led by former Indianola, Iowa head coach Spencer Waugh, with Millard West assistant coach Aarron Schurevich, Lincoln Southeast head coach Steve Foral, and former Indianola debater Jessie Eade completing the Public Forum staff..

***Last year we drew several students from out of state and we hope to do the same this year.
Camp Costs
***Our prices remain very low because none of us are in this for the money (and there are no “extra” charges at NDI) Without question, we provide the best debate camp bargain in the country.  $575 for policy debate, $475 for LD debate; $375 for public forum (all meals, snacks, pop, and water included while at camp; all copying also included).

***I will once again work to provide housing for students who come in from out of state who do not have someone to stay with in Lincoln.  Students who request this housing will be asked to pay an additional $100 for the policy and LD camp stays and an additional $75 for PF campers so that we can help compensate parents who house students.  This year, if we house a number of students in Omaha, as we did last year, I will also add a charge of $50 for out of state campers who are given transportation by staff to and from camp in Lincoln each day it they are LD or policy debaters and $30 if they are PF debaters.  If the student is housed in Lincoln, there will be no extra charge for transportation. Students can also make arrangements to stay with relatives or family friends in Lincoln.
